About Us

Houston County High School (HCHS), Home of the Lions, is a public school serving approximately 295 students in grades 7–12. Located in Columbia, Alabama, approximately 18 miles east of Dothan, HCHS is a close-knit school community built on tradition, pride, and a commitment to excellence. With its signature royal blue and gold colors, HCHS proudly represents the spirit and values of northeastern Houston County.

HCHS offers a comprehensive educational program that includes core academic subjects, advanced coursework, career and technical education, and specialized instructional services. Through engaging instruction and technology integration, students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for success in college, careers, and life.

Lion Pride extends beyond the classroom through athletics, band, academic competitions, student organizations, and leadership opportunities. These programs encourage teamwork, character, responsibility, and school spirit while allowing students to discover their talents and build lasting connections.
